Aaron Rodgers’ relationship with the Green Bay Packers has been tumultuous ever since the team drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round in 2020. But they’ve finally reached an understanding.

Rodgers went on to win MVP in Love’s rookie season, and just when it appeared time for a new era in Green Bay, the second-year quarterback is going to continue to wait his turn.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers will remain with the Packers for the 2021 season with the understanding that he will be traded before the 2022 season. It was a shift from Rodgers’ apparent refusal to play for Green Bay — a drama that had unfolded all offseason.

It was also rough news for Love who will have to continue as a backup quarterback.

According to the report, the Packers will void the 2023 portion of Rodgers’ contract. So, Love won’t be waiting forever.
