Price Tower Shows Love in February - Examiner Enterprise

Amid the cold winter temperatures, Price Tower has plans to help warm local hearts this month. Live love songs, culinary creations and the opening of a new “romantic” art exhibit are all part of an upcoming Valentine’s weekend celebration.

The "Touch" exhibition by artist Alyssa Fields opens Valentine’s weekend in the gallery.  Along with the romance-themed artwork, local vocalist Ann-Janette Webster will provide musical ambiance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 11-12) in the first-floor restaurant. Wright Chef “Nook” is busy creating a special Valentine's dinner (by reservation) to be shared with loved ones on both those nights from 5 to 9 p.m.

Price Tower curator Deshane Atkins said the team at Price Tower looks forward to helping visitors celebrate the season of love during the Valentine's holiday.

“Price Tower is such a special place that changes with every show and event we have. We have a unique getaway for both locals and out-of-town visitors to celebrate Valentine’s,” Atkins said. “We’ll feature live romantic music, a wonderful dinner planned by our chef, romantic overnight packages in the Inn at Price Tower and an awesome gallery opening with Alyssa Fields."

A meet-and-greet with the artist will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with Fields giving a short gallery talk at 6 p.m. Fields is an oil painter who earned her master's degree from Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach, Calif. She lives in Tulsa and teaches at Rogers State University.

“My oil painting features female figures and symbolic objects associated with exploring self-acceptance, love and sensuality,” Fields said. “I often paint the subject in a gentle, realistic way that is paired with energetic and expressive brushstrokes. I paint the human figure to better connect with these emotions and gain strength from them.“

Price Tower executive director Tiffany Wade said that her crew is excited about Valentine’s weekend and is already looking ahead to this year’s annual Price Tower Gala on March 19. Gala guests will be treated to culinary creations by Chef Nook, a one-of-a-kind silent auction, unique artwork and live music and dancing with Tulsa band “Zodiac."

Tickets can be purchased at pricetower.org. All proceeds from the Gala and all Tower events support Price Tower operations.

“We exist due to the continued generosity of the community and our members. The Arts Center is a nonprofit organization and proceeds from our restaurant, Inn and events like Valentine’s weekend and the annual Gala go to preserve the building and community outreach for future generations,” Wade said.

“Price Tower is such a magical place and we want people of all ages to feel welcome here. The more the community comes together to support the arts and events here … the more we can do in turn for this great city.”

Reservations for the Valentine’s dinner or Valentine’s hotel packages for the weekend of Feb. 11-12 can be made by calling 918-336-1000 or at pricetower.org.
