The following items were taken from area police department reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Elmhurst

Battery

James Ziesk, 31, of the 500 block of West Grand Avenue, Elmhurst, was charged with battery and resisting a peace officer at 4:22 a.m. March 10.

Colette Keri, 25, of the 5600 block of West Fullerton Avenue, Chicago, was charged with two counts of battery and obstructing identification at 10:21 a.m. March 10.

Alcohol

A juvenile was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor after police responded to a report of a loud explosion in the 200 block of South Boyd Avenue at 9 p.m. on March 11. The noise came from a firework set off by a group of juveniles. The juvenile cited for alcohol possession was also cited for possession of fireworks by a juvenile and for possession of tobacco by a juvenile.

Battery

Two Elmhurst men, Benjamin Fett, 20, of the 500 block of West Fay Avenue, and Richard Wilbert, 18, of the 500 block of North Howard Avenue, were both cited for battery at 3:45 a.m. March 16.

Burglary

An unknown offender reportedly entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the Jewel Osco parking lot, 944 S. York St., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. March 15 and broke the ignition, making the vehicle undriveable.

Credit/debit card fraud

An ATM technician reported finding and removing an electronic skimming device attached to the side of an ATM in CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., at 9:13 a.m. March 13. The skimmer used radio frequency to collect credit and debit card data on a memory card. The ATM was shut down.

Criminal damage

A vehicle in the 200 block of North Addison Avenue was reportedly keyed on the passenger side between Feb. 23 and March 3.

A patrolling officer noticed a broken passenger side window on a vehicle parked near Kohl’s, 303 S. Route 83, apparently broken between 5:30 a.m. and 11:47 a.m. March 12.

Drugs

Kason Sunilligan, 20, of the1000 block of Bellwood Avenue, Bellwood, was cited for possession of cannabis, driving without insurance and driving with improper lighting at 12:09 a.m. March 11.

In the same incident, David Gaston, 20, of the 5500 block of West Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, was cited for possession of cannabis.

Jeanette Trujillo, 19, of the 5000 block of South Lotus Avenue, Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, driving without insurance and disobeying a stop sign at 1:57 a.m. March 12.

Ovidio Garcia-Juarez, 26, of the 100 block of Bridget Court, Bensenville, was charged with possession of cannabis, speeding and driving without a valid driver’s license at 4:29 p.m. March 13.

Anthony Knight, 47, of the 1100 block of South Richard Avenue, Berkeley, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass to real property at 7:06 p.m. March 13.

DUI

Monica Zavala, 25, of the 600 block of Mill Street, Montgomery, was charged with driving under the influence and improper stopping on the roadway at 3:14 a.m. March 12.

Extortion

A victim said after sending nude photos to an unknown female he met on social media on March 15, the female threatened to send the photos to his followers and friends unless he sent money, which he did.

Fraud

An unknown offender infected a computer server of Glenrock Co., 200 W. Wrightwood Ave., with a cryptovirus and then demanded a ransom in Bitcoin. The company declined to pay, as reported March 11.

Residents reported several unauthorized transactions on their joint checking and savings accounts with Chase Bank between March 1 and March 3. An unknown offender also attempted to use their information to open new accounts.

Identity theft

A resident reported her online bank account was hacked and overdrawn by an unknown offender between Dec. 21 and March 9.

A resident reported someone used her information to open a fraudulent checking account on Jan. 26. She closed the account and notified credit bureaus, as reported March 16.

Suspicious circumstances

Police responded on March 10 to a report of a safe lying in Salt Creek near the 800 block of South Riverside Drive. The safe, which had been cut open, was recovered. A search of Google Maps showed the safe in the creek last September.

Theft

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 500 block of West St. Charles Road between 12:10 a.m. and 7:21 a.m. March 11.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 300 block of South West Avenue between 5:45 p.m. March 10 and 5:20 a.m. March 11.

A resident told police a check mailed in December to a dentist had been altered and cashed for a much larger amount, payable to an unknown subject.

A carton of Newport cigarettes was reported stolen from Shell Oil, 654 W. North Ave, at 4:33 a.m. March 15. The white male suspect, wearing a black cap with the word “Chicago” and black and white camouflage shirt and pants, left the station on foot.

Theft by deception

A resident responded to an email from a person claiming to be an acquaintance asking the resident to buy Google Play gift cards and provide the card information to the supposed acquaintance on March 11. When that person requested more money, the resident became suspicious and stopped communication.

Tobacco

A juvenile in York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Rd., with a nicotine vape pen was cited for possession of tobacco by a minor at 11:26 a.m. March 10.

A juvenile found with a vape pen in York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Rd., was cited for possession of tobacco/nicotine at 10:05 a.m. March 15.

Another juvenile found with a vape pen in York after a tip that she was selling vaping devices was cited for possession of tobacco/nicotine by a minor at 2:55 p.m. March 15.

Traffic

Endrick Flores-Garcia, 21, of the 4500 block of Hutchinson Street, Chicago, was charged with driving while his license was suspended, speeding and driving with suspended registration at 10:06 p.m. March 12.

A juvenile was charged with reckless driving, squealing tires and driving without a valid driver’s license at 7:44 p.m. March 13 after police responded to the 400 block of North Oaklawn Avenue for a report of a driver doing doughnuts in the parking lot there.

Mario Zullo, 51, of the 15W400 block of Concord Street, Elmhurst, was charged with driving while his license was suspended, driving without insurance and failing to wear a seat belt at 8:08 p.m. March 15.

A juvenile was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without insurance and speeding at 12:20 a.m. March 16.

Mark McGhee, 54, of the 4800 block of West Gladys Avenue, Chicago, was cited for improper lane use and driving without insurance at 7:03 a.m. March 16.
