ANDOVER, Mass. – Mercury Systems Inc. in Andover, Mass., is introducing the model 5585 and model 5586 SOSA-aligned Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ high-bandwidth memory field-programmable gate array (FPGA) 3U VPX modules for electronic warfare (EW), radar, and signals intelligence (SIGINT).
These open-architecture 3U embedded computing boards feature high-bandwidth memory -- which is memory directly integrated on the FPGA chip -- that offers a 20-times increase in memory bandwidth over traditional DDR4 memory.
This design boosts signal processing speeds to support size, weight, and power (SWaP)-constrained compute-intensive mission-critical applications such as electronic countermeasures.

This added processing power helps transform raw data into actionable intelligence in near real-time to enable users to gain insights quickly and make decisions quickly.
The board offers power efficiency and space savings in a single-slot 3U VPX profile that aligns with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) standard; high-bandwidth memory that offers three times the bandwidth per Watt vs. GDDR5 memory while occupying 94 percent less space; a 20-times increase in memory bandwidth over traditional DDR4 memory; dual 100 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for fast backplane system connections; and Navigator Design Suite software tools that help accelerate design by controlling the hardware and all IP functions in the FPGA.
