Sherry Ivy: A mother's love is a reflection of God's love - The Dispatch - The Commercial Dispatch

A mother’s love for her children is like the love of God. It’s an unconditional love that will never end for her children as God’s love will never end for us. “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.” (Lamentations 3:22) NLT

A mother’s love is sacrificial. She sacrifices her time and the things she needs for herself for her children as God sacrificed His only Son to die for our sins. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) KJV

A mother’s love provides comfort and encouragement to her children. She has a listening ear when they need someone to talk to, and she understands the problems they’re going through. God does the same thing for us. “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 66:13) NIV

A mother’s love is patient. She cares for her children and she’s very patient with them like God is with us. Although some days can be challenging, she‘s always hopeful and never gives up. “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.” (1 Corinthians 13:4) NLT

A mother’s love will discipline her children when they do something wrong.  Every lick she gives her children, she tells them I’m doing this because I love you. God will do the same for us when we do something wrong. “Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.  (Proverbs 13:24) NLT

A mother’s love is very protective of her children. She’s always on alert, waking up at the slightest sound, caring during times of sickness, guarding them against potential harm. As her children grow into adults she remains alert and continues to be protective like God protects us from danger. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10) KJV

A mother will love her children for the good and bad things they do. Even when they disappoint her or make her angry she still loves them. We can think of God in the same way, we sometimes do things that disappoint or make Him angry, but He still loves us. “But you, O Lord are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15) KJV

So be encouraged today and always remember: A mother’s love is a reflection of God’s love because it: “Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7) KJV

Happy early Mother’s Day!
