'Love Is Blind' Kyle Slams 'Pathetic' Shake Amid Deepti Romance - Newsweek

Love Is Blind Season 2 cast member Kyle Abrams has spoken out against his former co-star Abishek "Shake" Chatterjee.

Shake, 33, was coupled up with Deepti Vempati, 31, on the Netflix dating series which sees contestants get to know each other in pods and get engaged before ever meeting face-to-face.

Throughout his time on the show, Shake came under fire from viewers for his treatment of his bride-to-be, with one comment about how she reminded him of his aunt seeming to particularly irk fans.

Ultimately, Deepti decided not to marry Shake and called off their relationship on their wedding day. Then, during the Love Is Blind reunion in March, she teased that her and Kyle were pursuing a romance.

Speaking to Newsweek ahead of the release of the Love Is Blind: After the Altar episodes, Kyle, 30, slammed Shake and called the star "pathetic."

Kyle, who lives in Chicago, Illinois, starred on the same series as Shake and Deepti, but never made it to his wedding day after fiancée Shaina Hurley called off their relationship just after their engagement.

Speaking about Shake, who does not appear in After the Altar, construction worker Kyle told Newsweek: "He calls me and I don't answer, I guess he calls other people too but none of us talk to him.

"I know that [the show] asked us to do a scene with him or talk to him on the phone and everyone that I talk to said 'no' to it. We don't want to talk to him, there's no point."

Shake made an apology on Instagram to Deepti back in March, after the Love Is Blind reunion saw him interrupt his co-stars multiple times and say that the only woman in the room he was attracted to was host Vanessa Lachey.

Despite Shake apologizing for his actions it looks like the vet, who now lives in Miami, has not been able to mend his relationships with his co-stars.

"He posted private conversations about me online, went after all of us, made fun of us," Kyle explained, continuing: "I'm like, you're an adult, you're a vet, doctor, whatever, and you're acting like a teenager. It's kind of pathetic, you're really pathetic."

Newsweek has contacted Love Is Blind to request comment from Shake.

Kyle remained coy when questioned about his potential romance with Deepti, which is a major storyline in the After the Altar episodes.

Netflix has released three new episodes of the show six months after viewers last caught up with the cast members, with stars like Natalie Lee, Mallory Zapata and Shayne Jansen back on screens to fill fans in on what has happened since we last saw them.

In After the Altar Kyle and Deepti toy with the idea of taking their close friendship to the next level and appear to end the series by deciding to pursue this. However, the pair are yet to confirm if they are currently in a romantic relationship.

Kyle Deepti Love Is Blind
Kyle and Deepti have teased a potential romance on the "Love Is Blind: After the Altar" episodes.

Admitting that he knows the lack of information on he and Deepti's current status is "disappointing," Kyle said: "There's so much speculation, I think that we're just going to make a statement together and see what happens from there. So much has happened from when we filmed until now [so] we want to show all of that first."

Meanwhile, on Love Is Blind, it has been confirmed that no couples from Season 2 of the show remain together.

Only two pairs ended up actually getting married on the original show, one of which being Iyanna McNeely, 28, and Jarrette Jones, 32.

At the reunion in March Iyanna and Jarrette confirmed that they were still together, but fans do see them working through some issues on the After the Altar episodes, which were filmed in March.

The then-pair released a joint statement on Instagram in August 2022 announcing their divorce and just days later it was revealed that Danielle Ruhl, 29, and Nick Thompson, 36, the only other couple to wed on Love Is Blind, are also separating.

Revealing how the splits have affected the Love Is Blind friendship group, Kyle said: "Now that the couples have divorced I'm kind of forced to pick sides.

"All the girls are together and the guys don't really get together like that. I talk to them occasionally but it's almost like boys and girls now, we're divided."

Love Is Blind: After the Altar is available to stream on Netflix.
