Mia Hansen-Løve's 'If Love Should Die' Set to Shoot Next Year — World of Reel - Jordan Ruimy

Coming off another critically-acclaimed film, 2022’s “One Fine Morning,” her eighth film, Mia Hansen-Løve is about to embark into uncharted territory for her next project.

Last year, Hansen-Løve revealed that she was writing a new film and that it would be a period piece set in England. That film has now been confirmed to be “If Love Should Die” which will concern the 18th-century English feminist philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft (via THR)

An official synopsis tells us it’s set “on the eve of the French Revolution,” concerning “an impoverished young Englishwoman makes the bold decision to lead her life according to the ideals of the enlightenment.”

Cameras are set to roll in the United Kingdom, France, Scandinavia, and Portugal. MUBI will produce and co-finance with Arte France Cinema. Expect a 2026 release for this one, and a potential premiere at Cannes.

Hansen-Løve recently mentioned that she’d love to work with Robert Pattinson, adding that he’s “a great actor.” This opens up the possibility that he could maybe take part in this one.

Some of Hansen-Løve’s more well-known works include “Things to Come,” “Eden,” and “Goodbye First Love.”
