Two hundred volunteers gave 400 hours of service all over Monroe County helping others during LOVE WEEK led by Lakeshore Community Church in Greece.
Through prayer, cleaning and cooking, members of Lakeshore are reminding people throughout Greater Rochester that they are loved.
“Lakeshore is a vibrant church,” said Elvis Filpo, a member of Lakeshore Community Church. “It’s an active church. The volunteers are here pouring out their love because Jesus Christ lived on us first.”
Volunteers took part in 16 different service projects all over Monroe County. They delivered lunch to firefighters and police officers, prayed for people, cleaned up local beaches and packed food for the homeless.
Elvis Filpo and his wife Syslyn helped make lunch for a homeless ministry.
“There are a lot of homeless kids out right now,” Filpo said. “There are a lot of families that are in need. We want them to know Lakeshore is here for them."
All the volunteers hope that their efforts will inspire others to help lift each other up in their communities.
