Former Michigan quarterback Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, spoke Tuesday on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray”, about Michigan beating Ohio State for the third straight year.
“It's a hard team to beat,” Brady said of Ohio State. “It's such an intense rivalry. I even hate the word ‘The’ because of Ohio State University. All those guys that would put that ‘The’ in the beginning.”
Michigan fans stormed the field after the Wolverines’ 30-24 victory last Saturday at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines are preparing this week to face Iowa in the Big Ten title game.
“I think this is a great part about these rivalries. You see the fans get into it,” Brady said. “I can't even remember the last time an NFL field was stormed. It's kind of cool to see that whole field, you see some of those overhead shots of everything engulfed that shows you what it means to those players.
“That's a great moment of unity, right? And I think when you look at sports that can bring people together, this is why we love sports. Two incredible teams, two great histories. It means so much (because for) 364 days a year you're looking for that game. Then the game happens, there's a winner and a loser, and the winner gets to celebrate and the loser goes looking for answers. And you know what, what you worry about a team like Ohio State is they're gonna come back stronger from it. And that's ultimately what allows them to propel their program, too. So again, the losses can fuel the wins if you handle them the right way.”
