One Way Love will host its annual fundraiser to raise money for its homeless or hungry teens programs when "A Night of Hope" takes place at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium on March 2 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
"A Night of Hope" transcends mere celebration, the group said. Instead, it embodies the resilience of the human spirit and the collective power of compassion.
"With hearts wide open, we extend our invitation to you — become a beacon of hope for our children," the group says. "We seek your partnership in spreading awareness, attracting sponsors and mobilizing resources to address this invisible crisis."
One Way Love is a collective of concerned residents, working in tandem with St. Tammany Parish school counselors and mental health professionals to identify and aid the most vulnerable youth. They provide:
- Annual assistance to more than 100 teens grappling with housing and food insecurity
- Financial and material support by distributing gift cards for essential purchases and repairing donated cars for reliable transportation
- Educational and communication aids, donating more than 75 laptops for educational purposes and providing prepaid phones for connectivity and job opportunities
- Health and wellness initiatives by collaborating with therapists to address childhood trauma; also alleviating health care and dental costs
- Mentorship programs that foster personal and professional development
- Emergency support services by providing hotel vouchers for homeless students and families and by assisting single mothers with rent and utilities.
