Bartise Bowden has responded to the backlash from Love Is Blind fans over his "smokeshow" comment about Raven Ross.
Bowden, 27, and Ross, 29, are both starring in the third season of the Netflix dating show and, though they initially formed a romantic connection in the pods, they ultimately ended up getting engaged to other people.
As Love Is Blind fans know, the contestants on the show date in individual pods and do not meet their potential suitors face to face until they are already engaged.
Bowden ultimately proposed to Nancy Rodriguez, 32, after losing interest in Ross when she was caught working out and doing jumping jacks while he opened up to her. Ross got engaged to SK Alagbada, 34.
Love Is Blind released the first four episodes of its third season on October 19, and a new batch followed on October 26.
In the final episode of first batch, the engaged cast members all met for the first time, meaning many contestants came face to face with the people with whom they had a romantic connection but did not end up getting engaged to.
Bartise, upon seeing Ross in the flesh for the first time, praised the pilates instructor as a "smokeshow," and later complimented Ross further to his fiancée Rodriguez, leaving fans seriously unimpressed.
Bowden added to the cameras in an individual confessional: "Like f***ing wow, Raven looks damn good. She looks f***ing incredible, she's wearing a tight dress, she has a great body, beautiful smile, beautiful eyes."
Responding to the fallout from the comment, Bowden told Newsweek that, while he doesn't stand by the words he used in the moment, he still agrees with the sentiment.
He said of the scene: "I have so many regrets and emotions, I was a wreck watching that back. It was so embarrassing."
Bowden continued: "The insensitivity on my part for thinking that that was ok to say is what I regret, however, the feeling and emotion of feeling that way, I don't regret feeling - because I'm a human being! And that's actually what I was feeling and, at the time, I felt like I owed it to Nancy to tell her how I'm feeling because she needs to make a decision on if I'm the person for her."
Love Is Blind fans were quick to react to Bowden's comment when they first watched it on Netflix.
Taking to Twitter at the time one fan wrote: "What 25 year old says 'smokeshow' anyway? Bartise is so sauceless, his personality is so beige, even his Spanish sounds very American on a study abroad program, he needs to treat my wacky, cute Nancy with a bit more respect!! #LoveIsBlind."

Fans will need to tune into the rest of the season to find out how things between Bowden and Rodriguez, and the rest of the couples, play out and it won't be until November 9 that viewers find out if they end up tying the knot.
The first seven episodes of Love Is Blind Season 3 are available to stream now on Netlix.
The next batch of episodes will be released on November 2. The finale and reunion episodes are due to be released on November 9.
