Jada Pinkett Smith Addresses Rumors About Her Sexuality in Book: 'I Love Men' - PEOPLE

Jada Pinkett Smith is opening up about her attraction to men.

In her new memoir Worthy, the actress and Red Table Talk host, 52, directly addresses speculation about her sexuality, writing, “There have always been rumors that I’m gay — that I like women.”

“Maybe that had something to do with clubs where I hung out,” continues Jada, who says she frequented LGBTQ+ establishments when she was younger.

And while the Girls Trip star says she was intimate with women on occasion, she is not a lesbian.

“The truth is that during those early years of exploration in Hollywood, I had a few sexual experiences with women, only to realize that when it comes to sex, I love men,” she continues.

“Still, I cherish the beauty of women inside and out. And I have never stopped being infatuated and in awe of women of all ages, sizes and colors. My belief is — women are the most amazing creatures on the planet, and I hold reverence for women through my friendships,” she writes.

During an NBC primetime special that aired Friday,Today show host Hoda Kotb asked Jada about a slew of rumors she and husband Will Smith, 55, have faced throughout their marriage.

"You and Will probably have more rumors about you and talk about you than others. 'They're in an open marriage, they're swingers, he's gay, she's gay.' I mean a million things were out there. What, if anything, is true and did hearing all that stuff bother you?" Kotb queried.

"I would say that none of that's true. I definitely can understand why there'd be misunderstandings, but none of it's true,” replied Jada.

During her press tour for Worthy, Jada has revealed many intimate details about her life, including the fact that she and Will, whom she wed in 1997, have been separated since 2016 and are “still figuring out” their relationship.'

In a cover story interview with PEOPLE, Jada said "we’re still figuring it out," in regards to her marriage with Will.

"A lot has happened. The thing about relationships is that it's constantly moving. Relationships are, it's an organism. It's its own thing. It's constantly shifting and constantly moving. There's a lot that's transpired in the last two years, and so we've been doing some really heavy-duty work together.”

Will reacted publicly to the memoir on a recent episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty. Jada appeared on the podcast, and the host read aloud a letter from her husband, with whom she shares son Jaden, 25, and daughter Willow, 22. (Will also has a son, Trey, 30, from a previous relationship.)

"I just turned the final page of Worthy," wrote Will. "It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place."

"It's one thing to hear anecdotes at a family barbecue, but it was truly overwhelming to take in your story, potently condensed in this way,” he added.

Worthy is available wherever books are sold.
